Meat and Dairy

Outbreaks associated with foodborne illnesses are serious concerns to public health and the economy. As such, Meat and Dairy Industries utilize the microbiological testing services of the H1H Laboratory on a regular basis. This is done as a way to screen their products and assess microbial quality for safe consumption. Some of the tests conducted by the H1H Laboratory on meats include E. coli counts, Salmonella, and Listeria Detection. A few of those conducted on dairy products include, Aerobic Plate Counts, Coliforms and Yeasts and Moulds. Screening for some of these organisms is of particular importance as they are often implicated in most foodborne illness outbreaks. Some of our expertise in this area include microbial spoilage and general microbiological testing inclusive of pathogen testing.
