Industrial Services

H1H Laboratory provides the testing of food, water, and environmental swabs, and performs environmental monitoring including air quality checks.

Microbiological Food Testing

Microbiological food testing is done to detect foodborne pathogens and spoilage organisms to ensure the continued safety of food products along the supply chain. Functional microbes must also be monitored during production and in the final product. Our available tests include:

  • Aerobic Plate Count
  • Total Coliform Count
  • coli Count
  • Lactic Acid Bacteria Count
  • Psychrophilic Count
  • Staphylococcus aureus / Coagulase-positive Staphylococcus Count
  • Yeast & Mould Count

Pathogens

  • Listeria monocytogenes Detection
  • Listeria Detection
  • Salmonella Detection
  • Staphylococcus aureus Count

Other Organisms

  • Streptococcus Count
  • Proteus Detection

Shelf-Life Testing

Shelf-life testing is designed to provide an objective measure of the quality factors that define the food and the point at which failure occurs. This failure is the point at which the food exhibits physical, chemical, microbiological, or sensory characteristics that are unacceptable to the consumer. Our available tests include:

  • Aerobic Plate Count
  • Total Coliform Count
  • coli Count
  • Lactic Acid Bacteria Count
  • Psychrophilic Count
  • Staphylococcus aureus / Coagulase-positive Staphylococcus Count
  • Yeast & Mould Count

Pathogens

  • Listeria monocytogenes Detection
  • Listeria Detection
  • Salmonella Detection
  • Staphylococcus aureus Count

Other Organisms

  • Streptococcus Count
  • Proteus Detection

Microbiological Water Testing

Microbiological water analysis is a method of analysing water to estimate the number of bacteria present and to allow for the recovery of microorganisms in order to identify them. Microbial quality is one of the most important factors in determining the ongoing safety of water supplies for human (and animal) consumption. Our available tests include:

  • Heterotrophic Plate Count
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa Count
  • Enterococci Count
  • Fecal Coliform Count
  • Total Coliform Count
  • coli Count

Microbiological Environmental Testing

Microbiological environmental sampling and testing are used to monitor production and manufacturing environments to ensure that the location meets established microbial acceptance criteria. Sampling and testing are key components of environmental monitoring to reduce microbial contamination risk. Our tests assist the food producer and/or processor to determine the presence of microorganisms, including problematic ones, and enable them to take corrective actions to maintain a high level of hygienic production of food items. Our available tests include:

  • Total Mesophilic Aerobic Plate Count
  • Lactic Acid Bacteria Count
  • Total Coliform Count
  • coli Count
  • Staphylococcus aureus / Coagulase-positive Staphylococcus Count
  • Yeast & Mould Count

Pathogens

  • Listeria monocytogenes Detection
  • Listeria Detection
  • Salmonella Detection
  • Staphylococcus aureus Count

Chemical Water Analysis

Water chemistry analyses determine the amounts of mineral and organic substances that affect water quality. This data can help identify treatment levels in critical water processes, monitor the metals content of ground drinking water, or just provide a risk assessment for health and the environment. Our available in-house tests include:

  • pH
  • Total Chlorine
  • Residual Chlorine
  • Hardness
  • Conductivity

We also provide through our subcontracting partners the following tests:

  • Aluminium
  • Chromium
  • Cobalt
  • Copper
  • Lead
  • Molybdenum
  • Nickel
  • Zinc
  • Fluoride
  • Nitrate
  • Nitrite
  • Sulphate
  • Total Dissolved Solids
  • Mercury

Nutritional Testing

Nutritional testing determines the dietary content of foods and food products. Completing a nutritional analysis of manufactured food helps to ensure its compliance with various national and international regulations. These include the legal requirements relating to food nutrition labels, as well as a range of associated health and safety legislation.

We provide this service through our subcontracting partners. The standard test profile that we offer includes:

  • Total Carbohydrates
  • Total Fat
  • Protein
  • Calories
  • Calories from Fat
  • Moisture
  • Total Ash
  • Sugar Content
  • Salt Content

Lactic Acid Bacteria Testing

Food processors, manufacturers, and consumers discard large amounts of food due to Lactic Acid Bacteria spoilage. Although these bacteria may be useful in some industries, they may cause problems in others, causing spoilage in products such as ready-to-eat meats, seafood, dressings and sauces, and many other processed foods. As a result, producers and manufacturers constantly need to monitor their environmental conditions and their products to ensure this group of bacteria does not become problematic to them. Testing allows companies to assess specific lactic acid bacteria levels that are acceptable for their foods, as well as their sanitation programme, giving them the opportunity to adjust their processing conditions or intensify cleaning and sanitation procedures before releasing products.

We provide this test through our subcontracting partners. This is coming on board soon.
